TEEN & YOUNG ADULT SOCIAL CLUB - Alternate Saturdays (Ongoing)

The association's Social Club's aim is to give our Young Adults a place to be social, interact and learn as well as practice good social skills like sharing, turn taking and appropriate behaviours in social settings.  Our teens and young adults will get together for a focused afternoon to share in activities designed for fun and additionally teach them how to socialize, learn etiquette for social events, turn taking and other life skills pertaining to socialization during these formidable friendship forming years.  The DDSA Social Club will take place nearly every other week (Saturdays) except holidays.  These meets will generally take place at Iroquois Park Sports Complex - Garden Cafe.  The starting agenda has been activities such as board games, card games and arts/crafts.  We are now moving into a phase of introducing outings to movies, shopping trips or the like.
Aileen Meshriy and Christie Reed, are our two certified DDSA Volunteers who "Chaperone" our groups.  Parents are encouraged to drop off their participant and return at the end time.  We know that social behaviours tend to be different when parents remain and so, allowing the attendee to participate independently - with our Chaperone(s); gives them a chance to explore these social settings uniquely, without their parent being directly involved!

Location:  Iroquois Park Sports Complex (Garden Cafe - Fireside Room)
Address: 500 Victoria St. W., Whitby On.
Time:  1:00pm - 3:00pm

Please note:  All Social Club participants/attendees are required to RSVP if planning to attend (via Email) so that we can count their attendance and ensure we always have enough supplies or materials.
